Dear Friends,
We want to thank you and your church for your passion for standing with our global neighbours who are most affected by the climate and nature crises. These crises are a justice issue, but your church CAN make a difference by supporting the Climate and Nature (CAN) Bill today.
While the CAN bill already has strong support across faith backgrounds and political parties, over 100 MPs must attend the second reading in UK parliament on Friday 24 January and vote for the bill to secure its progress into law. This is an opportunity for your church to speak up alongside communities experiencing the worst effects of climate change and protect God's creation together.
Your support for the CAN Bill will help to make sure that the UK reduces its climate impact and protects a natural world where everyone can thrive. The UK and our government must take responsibility for our part in the global climate crisis.
The CAN Bill is vital to the UK reaching our 2030 climate targets under the Paris Agreement, as well as:
1) addressing the nature crisis by protecting and restoring vital ecosystems
2) taking responsibility for our overseas emissions
3) ensuring no one is left behind in tackling the climate and nature crises, especially those living in poverty
