Sally has worked as a safeguarding specialist in the sports sector for over 11 years with lead safeguarding responsibility within a local professional football club and with the national governing body for rowing. This has included responsibility for implementing safeguarding strategy, safeguarding policies and procedures including safer recruitment as well as advice, support and training around safer working practice. She is also currently the Safeguarding Governor at an independent school and the Chair of its Safeguarding Committee.
Sally has a legal background and initially worked as a practising barrister before working for many years in youth and community provision and adult education where safeguarding and welfare was high on the agenda. These previous experiences play an important role in informing her safeguarding practice along with her voluntary experiences as a football coach and scout leader. Sally has been an active Scout Leader for almost 20 years including running a scout group in a local Methodist Church. She continues to lead a Scout Group and supports the delivery of the D of E programme in her hometown of Leicester.
