Sally Wan
District Safeguarding Officer

Sally has worked as a safeguarding specialist in the sports sector for over 11 years with lead safeguarding responsibility within a local professional football club and with the national governing body for rowing. This has included responsibility for implementing safeguarding strategy, safeguarding policies and procedures including safer recruitment as well as advice, support and training around safer working practice. She is also currently the Safeguarding Governor at an independent school and the Chair of its Safeguarding Committee.

Sally has a legal background and initially worked as a practising barrister before working for many years in youth and community provision and adult education where safeguarding and welfare was high on the agenda. These previous experiences play an important role in informing her safeguarding practice along with her voluntary experiences as a football coach and scout leader. Sally has been an active Scout Leader for almost 20 years including running a scout group in a local Methodist Church. She continues to lead a Scout Group and supports the delivery of the D of E programme in her hometown of Leicester.

Neil Hutchinson
Learning and Development Officer

Neil has worked in a wide range of settings, where frontline safeguarding training and policy development have been his responsibility. These settings include Young Offenders Institutions, residential, mainstream academies and special schools. He currently serves as an officer in the Combined Cadet Force (Army) and is very involved in the life of his own church. He has served as a Designated Safeguarding Lead in many schools and has led training for new headteachers in the National College of School Leadership. He has led safeguarding training at all levels and is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teachers. 

Neil completed an MA in Theological and Pastoral Issues at EMMTC in Nottingham in 2005.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and as such every Church and every circuit is required to appoint a safeguarding representative. Please inform the District Safeguarding Officer and the District Office if there is a change in church or circuit safeguarding representatives.
