Small Grants

There are two types of small grants that can be made available quickly and easily. These are as follows:

Start Up Grants to provide up to £5,000 for new initiatives or to enable significant developments in existing work. Further details and the application form are available below.

Methodist Action on Poverty and Justice (MAPJ) grants are available to provide up to £5,000 for work with those experiencing poverty or an inequality of resources. The criteria for these grants is based on Standing Order 1004 and further details are available below.

District Advance Fund Grants

The District Advance Fund (DAF) provides grants for personnel and property projects that develop new work and/or further the mission of the church in line with the District's Criteria for Grants as described in the Northampton District Grants Policy Document. Please ensure that you contact the District Mission Team Leader as soon as possible for guidance and the mandatory meeting and also that the application form and supporting information is forwarded to the District Treasurer by the due dates. Details of the criteria, the guidelines, contact details and the application dates are given in the Northampton District Grants Policy Document.

Guidance for Church and Circuit Trustees

This document is intended to provide guidance and support for all trustees of churches and circuits in the Northampton District. It gives an overview of financial governance and good practice to assist all trustees with their responsibilities. It refers to many sources of further information and it aims to consider the health and well-being of those individuals directly undertaking financial tasks by creating an environment where information is freely available.

Financial Guidance for Trustees – March 2020 is available to download below.

Support for Training

There is financial support available for those who wish to develop their skills and understanding of Christian life and ministry. The individual, their Circuit and the Northampton District will usually share the cost equally (one third each), but in cases of personal financial hardship, more support may be available.

To request financial assistance, please contact Andrew Lewis, the District Treasurer, at district.treasurer@northamptonmethodistdistrict.org.uk with details of the training, including costs, and the contributions that your Church or Circuit are willing to make.
