The Overstone Project December 2024

The story so far

2025 January, a new start and we plan to start of Discipleship Groups in Overstone. Before that, we need your involvement in our project. We absolutely need your prayer together with us over January and February for this Overstone Project.We will be praying for:
1) The Overstone Community – that hearts will be open to learning about God's love and grace
2) Praying for wisdom and understanding of how we should proceed with starting the first SmallGroup.
3) For courage and boldness to share the life-giving story of faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Since 2019 the Northampton District has been partnering with neighbouring Circuits to reach out to the New Housing Community being built on the outskirts of Northampton. Over 3500 houses are to be built within the next ten years so the desire to establish a Methodist presence has and continues to be explored.

To achieve this goal, the Methodist Church has employed Mel Brown as Overstone Community Pioneer Chaplain. Working ecumenically with the Anglican Church, we have extended a hand of friendship to the new community in Overstone / Moulton, for the period of the project. As new homeowners move into their homes, they are welcomed by a personal home visit, where Mel introduces herself and offers them a gift bag. To date, over 500 doors have been knocked on. This has played an integral part in making an initial contact, which has been built on through yearly gift giving (Easter and Valentine's Day); getting to know people through shared community activities; and by being a known presence in the community.
