Since 2019 the Northampton District has been partnering with neighbouring Circuits to the the New Housing Community being built on the outskirts of Northampton. Over 3500 houses are to be built within the next ten years so the desire to establish a Methodist presence has and continues to be explored.
To achieve this goal, the Methodist Church has employed Mel Brown as Overstone Community Pioneer Chaplain. Working ecumenically with the Anglican Church, we have extended a hand of friendship to the new community in Overstone / Moulton, for the period of the project. As new homeowners move into their homes, they are welcomed by a personal home visit, where Mel introduces herself and offers them a gift bag. To date, over 500 doors have been knocked on. This has played an integral part in making an initial contact, which has been built on through yearly gift giving (Easter and Valentine's Day); getting to know people through shared community activities; and by being a known presence in the community.
You can read about the work in the latest update on the right hand side.
