Christian Aid afternoon tea at Trinity Methodist Church, Loughborough

On Saturday 9th May the Loughborough Christian Aid Group hosted an afternoon tea in the main worship space at Trinity Methodist Church. The event featured delightful background music from the grand piano, later joined by singing and a double bass, creating a lovely atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

A dedicated team of helpers prepared sandwiches, cakes and scones, while waiters and waitresses from Trinity's student/twenties FEAST group and Chinese Methodist congregations helped serve guests. Beautiful china and cake stands, kindly borrowed from a former cafe owner, added to the occasion. The group was also pleased to welcome Loughborough's deputy mayor and mayoress!

The afternoon teas were a great success, with 132 served across the event. Behind the scenes, volunteers worked tirelessly to keep everything running smoothly, from serving food and refilling teacups to washing up and resetting tables between sittings. Afterwards, the helpers were finally able to enjoy their own afternoon teas together.

In total, the event raised an impressive £2,865 for Christian Aid. It was a thoroughly worthwhile occasion, enjoyed by everyone involved and supporting a very good cause.
